Ask your own →
What makes a redundancy genuine?
The job is no longer needed, you've met consultation obligations, and redeployment wasn't reasonable.
Do small businesses pay redundancy pay?
Small business employers with fewer than 15 employees are generally exempt from redundancy pay under the NES, but other rules still apply.
What does consultation involve?
Telling affected staff about the proposed change and genuinely considering their views before deciding.
Can we choose who is made redundant?
Yes, but selection must be fair and based on objective criteria.
Do you help with the meetings?
Yes. We help prepare scripts and can attend meetings with you.
Should we get legal advice?
For larger or complex redundancies, we recommend legal advice and work alongside your lawyer.
